Sexual attraction is not hardwired. You may start out attracted to men, switch to (men and woman) and end up a pansexuel.
Pansexuality has been pretty unheard of in mainstream media until recently when Janelle Monáe told the Rolling Stone that she was queer, saying she identified with some aspects of pansexuality. What does pansexual mean? It means you’re able to be attracted to anyone, regardless of gender. So this might include men, women, genderfluid and non-binary people.
What Does “Pansexual” Mean?
Pansexuality is the natural evolution of sexuality in our increasingly complex society. In simple terms, a pansexual person is a person who is attracted to other people independent of the person’s sexual orientation – whether that orientation is self declared or imposed by society. Instead a pansexual person is interested in the base common denominator that connect people together sexually, which is the ability to give and receive pleasure from another person’s body.
So when a pansexual person says they’re attracted to everyone, what they’re really saying is that the human body feels good and they are open to experience pleasure from it.
Importantly, sexual attraction does not not diminish the importance of the other things that attract people together, like sharing common values, hobbies and interests. That would be the equivalent of saying all gay men can be in a “relationship” based on their sexual attraction.
The pansexual orientation has not been pushed into the naughty sideline that most people associate with gay relationships. Instead it is presently identified with familiar aspects of traditional relationships. In other words, the things couples do outside of the bedroom, like working, cooking, sports, fishing and traveling.
Can A Person Go From Gay to Pansexual?
The reason that a person’s proclivity toward a particular sexual orientation can change is supported by new research that shows that sexual attraction is...

First of all, I’m a guy who’s a typical guy. I just find guys more attractive than women. I’d like to make it clear that the whole point of having same sex is for the fact it’s SAME SEX! For instance, this video is stupid. Theirs no way in hell our genetics have “same sex” interests coded in genetics. Our genetics only codify our eye colors and what not. Our interests comes directly from the mind ONLY because you are your own person when you are apart from your family. “Character is who you are when nobody is looking…”
P.S. scientifically, their is no right or wrong answer. It’s simply a matter of being human. It’s what’s inside of you that makes you, YOU. What would you call a straight man who likes to get fucked in the ass from a woman with a strap on? How about a straight man who is into Tranny’s?
You see, their is no simple answer. Their is no logical reason to be studying labels anymore because you either find out on your own and for yourself since that is technically the whole entire purpose of life. The meaning of life is experience.
A bit confused. How is it different than Bisexual.
Had different periods in my life, but it’s true very often I’m attracted by the person itself and getting giving pleasure. Love playing sex with a group of open minded people without sex differentiations.
Hi Mike, Robert, John, Diego and Joe,
Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable insight about this article. One of our goals in this forum is to share news and information that has an impact on the gay and LGBT community. We are not proponents of all the ideas in the articles. Instead, we try to identify newsworthy stories and trends.
There are more and more young people identifying as pansexuals in what appears to be a new sexual revolution. The logic we shared in this article is the logic used to support the pansexual movement.
Sorry if we offended you and hope you continue to support our group by sharing more of your opinions.
Please let us know if you have any topics you would like us to cover.
I am concerned by this statement: “In other words, being gay or heterosexual is influenced by your environment. Because your environment is continually changing, so may your sexual attraction.” Isn’t this what all the Conversion Therapy touted for years? This thought pattern is dangerous to all of us
I’m so sick to death of hearing about all these RIDICULOUS new “titles.” There’s no such thing as “demisexual,” “pansexual,” “transexual,” and every other ____sexual that people love using nowadays. I’m 150% born and will die a GAY MAN. I find the sight and thought of females nude/sexually attractive NAUSEATING. So please save the time and effort trying to make all gay men a part of your delusion.
Well this is so wrong to call all homosexuals like me a pansexual is wrong and outlandish I’m a gay man and always have been no thanks I like men and only liked men women eww yuk id rather drink my piss
This article is filled with lies. Yes, a very tiny portion of the population may call themselves pansexual but to equate it to homosexuality is morally reprehensible.
Unless pansexuals are being rounded up and sent to gas chambers, sentences to death or life in prison, denied protection by the law, etc, it is not the new gay.
This company disgusts me so much I’ll never read another article from them again.
Oh, please! Pansexual is just a fancy, new name for bi. And why do we insist on labels? Love is love.
